Weslaco approves paving of seven street segments, adds short stretch to 10th Street

The streets named for paving included 8th Street (Bridge Avenue to Airport Drive), 10th Street (Utah Avenue to James Street, with commissioners asking to extend the work toward Bridge/Bridal), Espinosa Street (Texas Boulevard to Missouri Avenue), Palma Street (two segments), and Pino Street (two segments). "Approval will allow staff to move forward with material procurement and contractor scheduling," staff said.
Commissioners debated adding the remaining portion on 10th Street from Bridge to Utah. After discussion about available budget "wiggle room," a motion passed to approve the item with the additional Bridge-to-Utah section; commissioners asked staff to return to the commission if the final cost exceeded the amended not-to-exceed amount.
