Weslaco names seven to Capital Improvement Advisory Committee required for impact-fee process

The Weslaco City Commission on July 31 approved Resolution 2025-50 to appoint seven members to the newly formed Capital Improvement Advisory Committee, a body required by the city's recent ordinances governing land-use assumptions and impact-fee adoption.
A city staff member explained the committee’s role as part of new ordinances to adopt a land-use assumption plan, a capital improvement plan and impact fees. Staff introduced nominees submitted to the city and read the names and nominators into the record: Charlie Casanova (nominated by Mayor Pro Tem Gonzales); Leroy Martinez (nominated by Mayor Gonzales); Jorge Gonzales (nominated by Commissioner Pedraza); Arturo Perez (nominated by Commissioner Lopez); Marcos Delos Santos (nominated by Commissioner Farias); Jeff Walker (nominated by Commissioner Garcia); and Steven Cortez (nominated by Commissioner Rodriguez).
A motion to appoint the seven nominees was made and seconded; commissioners voted in favor by voice vote. The commission then adjourned the special meeting.
