The Burleson City Council approved a mutual‑aid agreement adding Acadian (Acadian Ambulance Service) as an option for inter‑facility transfers and backup response when existing providers are unable to meet demand.
Fire Chief Casey Davis told the council the agreement expands options for scheduled inter‑facility transfers and occasional 9‑1‑1 support, while maintaining the department’s priority to keep Burleson‑based resources ready for emergency calls. Davis said the operational hierarchy would remain CareFlight first, then Acadian, then the city’s resources; Acadian also has the capability to assist with 9‑1‑1 calls in an extreme surge or a mass casualty event.
Council members asked whether Acadian would bill at the same rates the city allows; Davis responded that Acadian would bill for services but would be bound by the city’s established billing rates. After discussion the council moved, seconded and unanimously approved the mutual‑aid agreement.
Chief Davis said the arrangement is primarily intended to preserve 9‑1‑1 response integrity while providing an additional option for scheduled transfers when primary providers are unavailable.
