Mayor Miller outlines Egg Hunt, energy aggregation and street plans at Struthers caucus

The mayor said the city and Light City Church are partnering for an Easter egg hunt on March 28 and that volunteers recently filled close to 6,000 eggs. “They’re going to be providing face painting, … lunch, hot dogs, and groceries to go,” Mayor Miller said. She also noted Texas Roadhouse donated 300 kids‑meal coupons for the event and encouraged council participation.
On energy, Mayor Miller said the city entered an electric aggregation program with DynaG for the period from late May through June at a rate she reported as about 0.0999 cents per kilowatt‑hour (0.0999 kWh); she said Ohio Edison’s rate was expected to exceed $0.10 per kWh beginning June 1. Eligible customers will be automatically enrolled and may opt out with no early termination fee, the mayor said.
On infrastructure, a city official said street sweeping is tentatively scheduled to begin March 30 across a ward‑by‑ward route and that the city expects 2025 resurfacing work to begin within the next one to two months after asphalt plants reopen. The same official said Ohio Edison will convert many streetlights to LEDs over the next five years and residents should report individual outages through the utility portal.
The mayor also announced a tree‑board meeting on May 8, a Chrysler Savior Parish food pantry event on March 30, youth baseball fundraising on April 18, and a green‑team recycling drive running April through October. She closed the report by congratulating Police Captain Haas and the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force on recognition from the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
