- The commission authorized assigning P H and J Architects for design, bidding and project administration for emergency generator installations for critical facilities; staff said the initiative is part of a disaster-recovery-funded program with a total project budget of about $3,000,000 and that designs and applications are under review to determine how many generators will be installed. The commission approved a design/administration contract line of about $382,000 to support installations.
Subrecipient amendments, grants and purchases
- The commission approved an amendment to a subrecipient agreement with the Family Counseling Center doing business as Lifeline's Counseling Center, increasing HOME-ARP funding by $150,000 and extending the agreement through Dec. 14 to provide supportive services for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
- The commission approved submission/continuation of AmeriCorps Senior program grant applications totaling roughly $613,578 for the Mobile County Senior Companion program and $571,658 for the Foster Grandparent program (as listed on the agenda).
- Real-estate actions included approval to buy a 2.5-acre parcel on Saltaire Road East for $300,000 for shoreline restoration work (pending title and legal review) and a separate purchase of a property at 1358 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue from Metaverse Holdings LLC for $49,000 to be used as part of the Mobile County Civil Rights and Cultural Heritage District.
Routine and smaller items such as lease agreements, software subscriptions, change orders for lighting and generator work, and sponsorships for community organizations were approved as noted on the agenda.
