Nutrition Director Dimer described a planned remodel of Coffee Middle School’s cafeteria to expand seating capacity and improve supervision and safety.
Dimer said the project focuses on the cafeteria floor and seating — not kitchen equipment — and that the design will seat about 628 students (approximately one grade level at the school). The selected vendor, Hamilton, guarantees the tables and seats and offers a lifetime warranty; the tables are movable on casters for easy cleaning and reconfiguration.
Dimer said the design includes higher 42‑inch teacher-height tables in the center so teachers can see all students while sitting, as well as window coverings intended to preserve sightlines while limiting external visibility. A student panel participated in the selection process and favored the chosen design, she said.
Dimer said the project has been budgeted for years under nutrition funds and will be placed on the consent agenda for the regular meeting. The chair concurred and thanked Dimer for the presentation.
No formal vote was taken in the session; the item was scheduled for the consent agenda.
