Jason Dornbusch, MCSA program director, told the council that last year the city's support helped keep 207 households — described in the presentation as 260 adults and 200 children combined with emergency shelter services — housed and that MCSA has leveraged roughly $3.4 million in direct rental assistance to the community over five years. "The city's $30,000 sustains the operational backbone that makes these grants competitive and attainable," Dornbusch said.
Council discussion ranged from compensation options (one councilor suggested considering temporary suspension of council payroll as a funding idea) to scheduling a formal agenda item for next week. The mayor solicited objections by show of hands; none were raised and the council recorded consensus to provide the $30,000.
City officials and council members described the action as a consensus allocation for services rather than a formal ordinance or line‑item vote; the planned support will appear in budget documents for FY2627.
