Resident warns of collapsing private road; county engineers say bids soon

Staff said the repair funding is expected to come from a federal earmark, but noted that grant rules limit county work on private property unless the grant allows it.
Thompson urged immediate action and said he feared someone could be hurt; staff said a permanent fix is in motion and that the county will coordinate with property owners and engineers to determine whether temporary measures are necessary.
"It’s about to collapse on us. Somebody’s gonna get hurt or even worse, killed," Thompson said during public comment. County staff replied that engineers had reviewed the site and that the county would proceed through the state and federal procurement and grant processes to seek repair work.
The board did not commit county personnel or funds outside the grant’s allowable scope during the meeting; staff advised patience while the federal purchasing and bidding process proceeds.
