County paramedics roll out 'File of Life' packets to help first responders access critical medical information

Flagler County community paramedics briefed the commission at the March 16 workshop on a 'File of Life' initiative designed to improve emergency response communication. The packets contain a resident’s health profile, medications and advance directives (including DNRs when applicable) and come with a clear sticker that residents place on a front door or window so paramedics can quickly recognize the packet’s presence.
Tracy Farmer (speaker 12) described how the packet is intended to help paramedics when a patient is unconscious or when household members cannot provide pertinent medical details. Farmer said the county will deliver the packets on request and provided a contact phone number: (386) 313-4260, and a resource page at flaglercounty.gov/fcfr where residents can request the packet and instructions.
Commissioners thanked staff and community paramedics for outreach plans, which include distribution at town halls and targeted community events. Staff said a limited number of preprinted packets are available and that communications staff will provide ordering details for larger runs.
