The board approved a 20‑year Anthony P. Arena stream restoration easement on Fairview Road (Rockdale Run). Staff said the project will be managed by EcoTone and will not require county funding; the Ag Land Preservation Advisory Board recommended approval.
The Smithsburg wastewater treatment plant unexpectedly required replacement work after inspectors found deteriorated filter support rollers. Joe Moss, deputy director for water quality, requested an engineering design services proposal for $74,900 to enable replacement of filters with a six‑month lead time for new units; the board approved a budget adjustment to transfer funds and authorized the change order.
The board accepted awarded capital and operational transit grants from the Maryland Transit Administration and Federal Transit Administration, totaling approximately $1.5 million (capital) and $2.3 million (operational) with local matches already budgeted, and approved a $272,511.33 Office of Problem Solving Courts discretionary grant application and acceptance to support treatment court services. The board also approved reappointing Rob Ferree to the Hagerstown Regional Airport Advisory Commission.
