Board members asked for clarification about how ESST (extended sick/leave language taken from Minnesota School Boards Association model language) and the allocation of sick leave would operate under the new contract. A board member said the added language was the same MSBA wording they had seen elsewhere and sought confirmation about maximum allowable directed hours and sick‑time calculations. The superintendent-designate had not signed the contract by the end of the meeting.
The motion to approve the superintendent contract was made by the board’s presiding member and seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote.
The board also noted that additional explanation would be provided in person for details members wanted walked through, and that some elements (such as how ESST interacts with existing sick‑time banks) were to be clarified with administration after the vote.
