Tech ed teacher: United Electric donates vinyl cutter, students install graphics as apprenticeship opportunity

At the March 10 meeting Dawn Fish, the district’s tech-ed teacher, described a new partnership with United Electric that provided a 24-inch ScrapTech vinyl cutter to the district’s Fab Lab and opportunities for students to install vehicle graphics as applied learning.
Fish said students were already working on decals and that the company dropped off two trucks for students to prepare and install graphics under teacher supervision. She highlighted that upperclassmen are mentoring freshmen and that the experience gives students portfolio work and potential local apprenticeship pathways. “They have graciously offered to partner up with us, and we now are the owner of a 24 inch ScrapTech,” Fish said. School and business representatives present praised the engagement as a valuable hands-on learning and workforce connection.
Board members and the business representative encouraged continuing to promote youth apprenticeships and to use the partnership to connect students with local employers; the owner of the business was unable to attend but was reported as committed to continued collaboration.
