The Crookston City Council voted to approve a resolution promoting Scott to parks and recreation director.
During discussion, Jeff, a city staff member presenting the item, said Scott has been with the city for 15 years and has more than 30 years of experience in sports and recreation administration, including about 20 years as a collegiate coach. Jeff also noted Scott is "five credits short of his master's degree" and holds a bachelor’s degree relevant to parks and recreation work.
Council members praised the promotion as an internal advancement consistent with the city's policy to promote from within when practical. One council member asked colleagues to ratify the decision to promote Scott and noted the value of acknowledging long-term staff service.
A motion to approve the hiring/promotion resolution was moved and seconded and the mayor announced the motion carried.
