Brooke County Schools honors TSA officer and student-athletes for conference and state finishes

The Brooke County Schools board opened its April 13 session by recognizing student achievements in career-technical competitions and athletics, honoring winners from TSA (Technology Student Association), wrestling, basketball, bowling and swimming.
Presenter noted Jimmy DeMaria "was the first in Brooke County to ever hold an officer position" after being elected a TSA state officer. The board also acknowledged problem-solving and drone competition placings, and named Quentin Toth and Spencer Bridal as first-place winners in video-game design.
Athletics recognitions included Brook Middle School and high-school wrestlers for individual championships and placings (several weight classes were read aloud), all-conference selections in boys and girls basketball (including Andrew Murdock and Maddie Bowman), All-Valley bowling honorees, and swim-team placings. Presenter highlighted that Lindsey Kettler set a school record in the 200-yard freestyle with a time recorded in the minutes as 2:03.99.
Board members and meeting participants offered congratulations to students and coaches and thanked staff for their work preparing teams and programs.
The recognitions comprised the main community-facing items at the start of the meeting and were followed by routine reports and business.
