The Custer County Board of Supervisors authorized a contingent $10,000 offer to purchase a radio tower in Ansley and recorded public comment urging the county to keep its recycling center open at the April 14 meeting.
Chairperson Blowers reported Supervisor Parliament had discussed an easement or lease agreement with Ansley Village; the county needs to purchase the tower prior to signing an agreement. On a motion by Markham, seconded by Longmore, the board approved making a $10,000 offer to purchase the Ansley tower contingent on Ansley signing the agreement. County Attorney Steven Bowers will draft the sales contract and a corresponding easement.
During public comment Mark Kimball urged the board to maintain the recycling center, saying residents pay taxes for services such as recycling. Treasurer Bryant also presented low-cost ideas for the county's semiquincentennial courthouse decorations — cleaning, painting, bunting and lighting — estimating $450–$500 and encouraging office participation.
Chairperson Blowers called the board into closed session at 10:51 a.m. for contract negotiation; participants included County Attorney Bowers, Sheriff Osmond, Mark Rempe and Clerk Jacobsen. The board exited closed session at 11:10 a.m. with no decisions reported in the minutes.
