The Furnas County Board of Commissioners approved claims totaling $178,593.69 and agreed to sign the auditors' Management Representation letter pending receipt of required representation letters, the board's minutes show.
Chairman Mike Sexton formally opened the April 14 meeting and the board approved the meeting agenda on a motion by Commissioner Dennis Tegtman, seconded by Commissioner Allan McCoy, with a roll-call vote of Ayes: Sexton, McCoy and Tegtman. The board then approved the minutes from its March 24 meeting on a motion by McCoy, seconded by Tegtman, also by unanimous roll call.
The board reviewed and approved the claims listing, which the minutes itemize in department groupings (general, road, highway/bridge buyback, 911 and others) and show a grand total of $178,593.69. The claims list in the record includes routine vendors and payroll items; the minutes do not single out any claims for separate discussion or objection.
Later in the meeting, after reviewing the auditors' draft financial statements and related documents, the board voted (motion by McCoy, second by Tegtman) to sign the Management Representation letter and accept the auditors' draft statements "pending any changes for disclosure" that may be needed following receipt of the County Attorney and NIRMA representation letters. The motion passed on a roll-call vote: Sexton, Tegtman and McCoy voting Aye.
The board's minutes list no further action on these items. The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 28, 2026, or subject to call.
Details recorded in the minutes: agenda approval (Tegtman/McCoy), minutes approval (McCoy/Tegtman), claims approval (Tegtman/McCoy), and the auditor representation letter approval (McCoy/Tegtman).
