Township opposes county's planned four‑way stop; flags offered as temporary fix

Representatives of Pleasant Valley Township told the Dodge County Board of Supervisors Oct. 30 that they oppose the county’s planned four‑way stop at the intersection of County Road L and County Road 3.
Brad Harms, representing the township board, asked the county to explain the change and said his board would prefer no four‑way stop. Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert said his study of the intersection shows a four‑way stop is the only solution that reasonably addresses safety for truck traffic climbing the hill on County Road 3. Huppert said placing stop signs only on one axis would create hazards for truck traffic.
Supervisor Tawney noted that posting "Dangerous Intersection" signs is not advisable because of county liability. After discussion, Huppert said crews could temporarily add flags to the current signs, which Harms indicated the township would likely prefer to a permanent four‑way stop.
The board did not take a formal vote at the meeting; county staff will proceed with study findings and work with the township on next steps.
