Greeley County approves permits for fiber to new cell tower and electrical conduit under county road
Summary
The county board approved a Great Plains Communications right-of-way permit for fiber to serve a new cell tower (with conditions) and granted Howard Greeley Public Power a permit to install a 2" conduit under a county roadway.
Greeley County commissioners approved two utility permits at their March 24 meeting: a permit for fiber optic cable to serve a new cell tower and a permit for an electrical conduit to cross under a county road.
Great Plains Communications sought a permit to occupy county road right-of-way along 805 Road (running east–west between Sections 27 & 34 and Sections 28 & 33, Township 18 Range 11W) to install fiber for a planned cell tower. The board required the company to place the fiber at a minimum depth of 5 feet and to bore where the roadway ascends or descends. OSP Field Engineer Jon Strom agreed to the stated conditions. Commissioner Dennis Wadsworth moved to approve the permit with those conditions; Commissioner Joe Leslie seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Separately, Howard Greeley Public Power applied for a permit to cross under a county roadway with a 2-inch conduit containing primary cable in part of the SW¼ of the SW¼ of Section 5, Township 17 Range 11W. Commissioner Joe Leslie moved to approve that crossing permit; Commissioner Dennis Wadsworth seconded and the board approved unanimously.
Both permits include standard county conditions recorded in the meeting minutes; no appeals or public objections were recorded during the meeting.
