Greeley County commissioners approve equipment purchases, $295,326 motor grader payoff and sheriff truck

The Greeley County Board of Commissioners approved a series of equipment purchases and payments during its March 24 meeting, including a $295,326.42 payoff for a Caterpillar motor grader and a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado for the sheriff’s office.

Chairman Jordan Foltz opened the meeting and the board, consisting of Commissioners Joe Leslie and Dennis Wadsworth, approved the minutes from the March 10 meeting. Commissioner Joe Leslie moved to waive the reading and approve the minutes; Commissioner Dennis Wadsworth seconded and the motion carried on a unanimous roll-call vote.

The board approved a $10,385 purchase from Edghill Motors Inc. for a Hustler Fastrak 54-inch mower with bagger, tine rake and dethatcher after a motion by Leslie and second by Wadsworth. The board then reviewed and approved a payoff quote from Caterpillar Financial for contract 001-70148130 (Model #140-15AWD, Serial #EB301127) in the amount of $295,326.42; that action was moved by Leslie, seconded by Wadsworth and passed unanimously.

Sheriff Deaver presented a state bid from Husker Auto Group for a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Leslie moved to approve the purchase at $50,999 for the Sheriff's Department; Wadsworth seconded and the board approved unanimously.

County payroll and vendor claims were then approved following a motion by Wadsworth and second by Leslie. Recorded claims in the meeting minutes include First Concord Benefits Group ($544.35), Husker Auto Group vehicle ($50,999) and the Caterpillar payoff ($295,326.42). The minutes list general- and road-fund salary and benefit totals but do not attribute individual line items to specific departments beyond those noted.

The board scheduled its next regular meeting for April 14, 2026.
