Morton County Commission awards bridge contract, adopts budget amendments and routine approvals

At its April 9 meeting in Mandan, the Morton County Commission accepted a $666,333.31 low bid for a bridge replacement, approved 2025 budget amendments, certified township road mileage and approved abatements and policies; commissioners also reported $1,534,434.99 in expenditures.
The Morton County Commission on April 9, 2026, meeting at the Morton County Courthouse in Mandan accepted Siteworx’s low bid of $666,333.31 to replace bridge #30-145-11.0 and approved a set of routine administrative actions including budget amendments and abatements.
Chairman Nathan Boehm presided over the session. Commissioner Tokach moved to accept the Siteworx bid, with Commissioner Buckley seconding; Commissioners Tokach, Buckley, Zachmeier and Boehm voted aye and Commissioner Morrell abstained. The motion carried.
The commission also approved 2025 budget amendments as presented after a roll-call vote in which Commissioners Zachmeier, Tokach, Morrell, Buckley and Boehm voted aye. County Auditor Dawn R. Rhone noted that a detailed list of county expenditures from March 25 through April 9, 2026 totaled $1,534,434.99 and that the check register is available for public inspection during regular business hours at the auditor’s office.
Other actions taken with unanimous approval included adoption of the Morton-Mandan Events Weather Policy, approval of Township Road Mileage Certification for submission to the North Dakota State Treasurer, approval of county bills and payroll, and the approval of two sets of tax abatements (numbers 7404–7206 and 7207–7208). The commission approved minutes from a April 1 special meeting and the March 24 regular meeting.
Public comment was opened under North Dakota Century Code section 44-04-20.1 at 6:50 PM and closed immediately with no speakers.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:51 PM following a motion by Commissioner Morrell and a second from Commissioner Tokach.
