The Fairfield Union Local Board of Education voted to approve a copier/printing contract renewal with Modern Office Methods to replace district copiers beginning July 1.
A district presenter explained the new contract replaces aging machines and brings monthly charges more in line with actual usage. On paper the presenter said the prior contract listed $7,247.33 per month but averaged $776.44 in monthly overages — about $8,023 per month in practice — and the new agreement is intended to reduce unexpected overage costs while updating equipment.
"This brings that more in line with what our actual usage is," the presenter said, explaining the cooperative purchasing arrangement that avoided a separate bid process and will allow copier upgrades over the summer. Trustees had no substantive objections and approved the motion by roll call.
The new contract will allow the district to replace aging copiers across facilities; the presenter said existing machines will be retained as backups. The administration described the change as a procurement and operations decision rather than a program expansion. The board approved the contract as presented and the district will implement the replacements over the summer.
