Wellness committee discussed alternative-standard requests in closed session and approved COVID-era point exceptions

At the Jan. 22 meeting Marvin Kohout moved and Russ Karpisek seconded a motion to go into closed session to discuss Alternative Standard requests #2020-01 and #2020-02. After the committee reconvened, Tim McDermott said the committee would adjust those requests as discussed and provide the results to the employees.
At the March 9 meeting Tim McDermott presented Alternative Standard #2020-03, a request for additional time to recover from an upcoming medical procedure; the committee agreed to allow adjusted exercise points for the period requested.
During the May 15 teleconference meeting the committee addressed COVID-19-related disruptions to preventive care: Adam Drake moved and the committee approved that participants who attended a preventive dental visit but could not schedule a second visit within the same calendar year because of COVID-19 restrictions would still receive full points for the second visit.
Committee members also discussed program-delivery changes prompted by the pandemic: in-person classes were postponed, some classes were moved to webinars through Continuum EAP as a test alternative to the NIRMA Online University offerings, and the committee set protest and hearing dates for corrected totals from service vendors. The committee recorded motions and approvals as 'motion carried' in the minutes where formal votes occurred; no roll-call tallies were provided in the transcript.
The committee noted that adjustments and decisions would be communicated to employees and that formal protest notifications on corrected totals would be accepted through March 27 with a hearing scheduled for March 30, 2020.
