Summary
Carlson Tyner of Global Equity Nashville presented voluntary employee benefits (life insurance, cancer plans, critical-illness and discount cards), saying the package is voluntary for employees and "100% free from accounting" for county payroll administration; board asked staff to take the information to departments for consideration.
At the April 27 meeting Carlson Tyner of Global Equity Nashville presented a voluntary employee-benefits package to Chickasaw County staff and supervisors, describing life insurance, two cancer plans, critical-illness coverage, accidental benefits and a medical discount card.
Tyner said the products are voluntary and do not require county payment: "This is completely free from accounting. 100% free from accounting," he told the board, adding that most benefits are priced to be affordable for employees and that the plans include locked-in rates for participants who carry them into retirement. Tyner recommended the board adopt a resolution permitting enrollment so the vendor can coordinate payroll deductions as a Section 125 arrangement if employees choose to participate.
Board members asked to circulate the information to departments for review. No board action was taken at the meeting; staff said they would share the materials with departments and report back if there is interest to enroll.
