The Racine Common Council voted Jan. 20 to receive and file the city's snow-and-ice removal manual after a robust committee discussion that covered operational responses to a November storm and related topics such as leaf removal and alternate parking.
Alder Mack (speaker 8) summarized staff presentation and discussion; the item was reported out of the Public Works & Services Committee as 'receive and file.' The motion to receive and file passed on a recorded vote of 11–0.
Alder Otto Jorgerson (speaker 9) said he planned to meet with the Department of Public Works and conduct a ride-along to better understand plowing operations and potential improvements; he invited colleagues to participate. Council members said the ride-along would inform future recommendations.
Following committee reports and separate votes on several items, the council approved the consent agenda and moved on to other business. The meeting concluded with community announcements and adjournment.
