Floyd County commissioners approve $1.47M road bid and a package of contracts, change order and ordinances

Floyd County commissioners unanimously approved a series of procurement and legislative items at their meeting, including acceptance of a low bidder for a major road project, several professional service agreements and two county ordinances.

Chief Operating Officer Nick Creeby told the board that the low bidder for the Community Crossing 2026 project was listed as "Libs" at $1,469,064.76 and that the county engineer found the submission materially balanced and suitable for acceptance; Creeby said approval is needed to notify the state and secure matching dollars. A motion to accept the bid carried by voice vote.

The board also approved Ordinance FCO 2026‑04, a zoning map amendment to rezone six parcels between Shriver Road and U.S. 150 from Planned Unit Development Residential Urban (PDRU) back to general commercial. County Auditor Diana Topping presented Ordinance FCO 2026‑05 to establish a debt service reserve fund for a 2022 economic development income tax revenue bond; Topping said the change reconciles funds previously held in trust and was requested by the State Board of Accounts. Commissioners approved the ordinance by unanimous consent.
