The Severance Town Council voted March 24 to use the Citizen Advisory Board plus one additional citizen to serve as the town’s comprehensive plan advisory committee and appointed Christine McDaniel to that role.
Staff said two applicants applied and recommended either appointing CAB to the role or forming a separate five- to seven-member committee; councilmembers favored leveraging CAB plus the additional applicant to ensure community representation and to meet scheduling needs. McDaniel introduced herself to the council, said she has served on the Severance Chamber of Commerce and on her HOA, and cited concerns about growth and water that she said she would bring to the comprehensive-plan discussions.
Councilmember Vandermark moved to appoint CAB plus Christine McDaniel as the comprehensive plan advisory committee; the motion passed by roll call.
The council noted the comprehensive plan is a state requirement with a year-end deadline and asked staff to schedule meetings and maintain separate records for the comp-plan work and CAB business.
