Council members noted a potential for community pushback about soliciting private donations for park amenities that are also supported by tax dollars. The chair proposed restricting the QR code to one location and earmarking any receipts specifically for the archery range’s targets or related maintenance.
Staff advised that any donations must be accepted by council and recommended drafting a resolution to (1) authorize a donation account, (2) identify how funds would be earmarked, and (3) require periodic reporting by the finance director. Park Board staff had suggested a trial run starting July 1 and limited to the height of archery season rather than year‑round.
