City planning staff introduced a resolution to approve a site plan review and a zoning map amendment to rezone a parcel from R3A (low‑density multi‑family) to R4 (high‑density multi‑family) to allow a 28‑unit apartment project called Centennial Apartments.
Planning staff said the parcels would be combined via administrative lot combination and an easement would be included on the neighboring parcel to the north. The Isanti planning commission conducted a public hearing earlier in the evening and recommended approval of both the site plan and the zoning amendment.
Council member Lundin moved to approve the site plan review and the zoning map amendment with the staff‑recommended stipulations; council member Holmgren seconded and the motion carried 4–0. Mayor Merrill emphasized that no taxpayer dollars are being used and that the project is market‑rate housing.
The council recorded approval and asked applicants and staff to follow the planning stipulations and permit process before construction.
