The Racine Common Council unanimously approved a four‑year collective bargaining agreement with the Racine Police Association on Feb. 3, 2026, a deal the city says will increase wages and benefits by roughly $2.4 million over the life of the contract.
The mayor presented the contract under item 0059‑26. Alder Land, speaking for the Finance and Personnel Committee, said the Police Association had negotiated in good faith and recommended approval. "The Police Association is ... happy with this contract," Alder Land said, and asked the council to move forward.
Alder Kelly said she supported the agreement and requested the council be given a copy once the contract is fully executed. Finance director Director Fisher addressed questions about employee health‑insurance premium contributions, confirming current premium contributions are 7.5% and that negotiated increases in the contract will raise police contributions to 10% in 2027 and 12.5% in 2028.
Alder Weidner questioned whether those premium changes align with what other city employees pay; Director Fisher said comparable proposals for non‑represented employees will be considered in future mayoral budgets. Alder Jorgensen, who served on the committee, thanked the negotiating teams and recommended approval.
When the clerk called the roll, the vote was 14 ayes, 0 noes. Mayor Corey Mason congratulated the city's bargaining team and the union for reaching the settlement.
The council approved the contract; the administration will circulate the executed agreement to the council once the Racine Police Association and city finish their final review.
