Clerk Linda Smith also asked commissioners to confirm per-diem rates already budgeted for the 2026 election cycle: poll clerks and judges at $225 for election day and inspectors at $275. The board approved those per-diem rates by voice vote.
The board approved a joint use and maintenance agreement for county road access while the state performs I-69 work. The chair also raised concerns about heavy semi traffic routed to the App Mall plant on 1300 North and 100 East, told commissioners county highway staff will inspect and photograph pavement condition, and said repairs or chip sealing may be needed when state work is complete.
Finally, citing a reduction in workforce and plans to redistribute secretarial duties to highway staff, the chair moved to eliminate the county engineer secretary position; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
