Superintendent Dr. Richard Barlow recommended the board approve leaving April 17 on the calendar as a weather day, explaining that the district has exceeded the state minimum requirement of 1,080 instructional hours and therefore will not need to make up the inclement weather day from Jan. 26, 2026. "Dr. Barlow recommended that the Board approve for Friday, April 17, 2026 to remain a scheduled Weather Day with all schools closed," the minutes record.
Mrs. Anne Schilleci moved to approve the recommendation; Mr. Jeffrey Brewer seconded the motion. The board voted unanimously to keep April 17 as a weather day.
The decision means district schools will be closed April 17; the minutes do not indicate additional schedule changes or makeup days beyond noting the Jan. 26 inclement day will not require a makeup because the district met the instructional-hour minimum. The meeting adjourned at 7:51 a.m.
