County briefed on $62,098 Commerce award to keep Crossroads Housing HEN rental assistance running

Melissa Casey, community health manager with Mason County Public Health and Human Services, told commissioners Commerce awarded an additional $62,098 specifically for the Housing & Essential Needs (HEN) program. "This is just gonna to keep the rental assistance for rapid rehousing and eviction prevention going," Casey said.
Casey said Crossroads is likely to exhaust current funds in roughly two months and that the award covers the current fiscal year through June 30; new budgets will be awarded in July. When a commissioner asked whether staffing changes at Crossroadsparticularly in financemight affect the program, Casey said she was aware of staffing changes and would follow up.
Why it matters: HEN funding supports rapid rehousing and eviction-prevention assistance for households currently served by Crossroads. Staff presented the amendment as a short-term bridge to maintain services until new fiscal-year allocations are made.
