Cedar Hill swears in municipal court judges; Henry Campbell joins as alternate judge

The Cedar Hill City Council on Jan. 13 administered oaths of office to two municipal court judges during its 6:00 PM briefing.
City Secretary Belinda Berg administered the oath to presiding judge Greg Andrew Shallon and to Henry Campbell as an alternate/associate judge for Cedar Hill Municipal Court. Berg introduced the judges before the oaths.
Henry Campbell, who was introduced as recently appointed presiding judge of DeSoto and as an associate/alternate judge for Cedar Hill, said he has practiced law for 31 years and has served as presiding judge in Lancaster for 18 years and more recently in Wilmer. "I've done a little bit of everything from criminal defense to civil," Campbell said, adding that he handles arraignments for the Tri City Jail under a local agreement and will assist Cedar Hill's court on arraignments and related duties.
Berg and council members welcomed the judges; no formal council vote was required in the briefing for the oaths. The council adjourned the 6:00 PM briefing and planned to return at 7:00 PM for its regular meeting.
