Hurst City Council adopts victims-assistance grant resolution and approves federal funding for library, rec-center AC replacements

The Hurst City Council adopted Resolution 19-08 supporting an application to the governor's office for a combined-cities crime victims coordination grant covering Hurst, Euless and Bedford, and approved a federally reimbursed air-conditioning replacement project at the city library and recreation center.

Police Chief Kittle told the council that the three cities have shared victim-assistance coordinator services since 2002 and staff returned to council because the grant application deadline was imminent. "You may recall just in December, we were before you asking for approval of resolution for this same grant," Chief Kittle said, noting the program continues longstanding regional coordination.

A council member moved to adopt Resolution 19-08; the motion carried. The council also considered a Department of Energy grant the city received to replace three aging air-conditioning units at the recreation center and the library. Staff stated the grant amount as $76,390 and asked for approval of total project funding not to exceed $107,130, with staff identifying $76,003.90 as the reimbursable portion from the federal grant. Council voted to authorize the city manager to proceed with the project.
