Hurst council cancels May 2 election, declares unopposed candidates elected

At its Feb. 24 meeting the Hurst City Council voted to approve an order canceling the May 2, 2026 council election for seats where candidates ran unopposed and to declare those candidates elected. City staff presented a certificate of unopposed candidates as part of the packet.
Councilmembers noted that the city will still hold a special election to consider proposed charter amendments on May 2; the unopposed candidates will be listed on the ballot as "declared elected." A council member moved to approve the order of cancellation and to declare each unopposed candidate elected; the motion was seconded and carried on a voice vote.
