TAC roundup: municipal project updates, CCRPC Board actions, trainings and grant notices

At the April 1 TAC meeting, members delivered brief municipal updates and staff relayed Board actions and resource notices relevant to local transportation planning.

Phillip Peterson summarized Burlington work for the 2025 season, including Rock Point Bridge repairs, multiple paving projects and continuing Main Street construction. Aaron Martin reported Essex projects, citing a $2.2 million stormwater treatment project on an LDS Church lot off Essex Way and a centerline force main on Center Road near Route 15 scheduled to begin mid‑spring. Tom DiPietro described South Burlington’s plans: paving, a new traffic signal at Market Street and Hinesburg Road, a boardwalk connection to the Trader Joe’s area, a recreation path in Garden Street West, and sewer repair on Hinesburg Road that will cause traffic impacts.

Staff reported on recent CCRPC Board activity: in March the Board approved a minor TIP amendment, accepted the FY25 Mid‑Year Report, approved the Buels Gore Town Plan, adopted a Board and Committee Member Handbook and Code of Conduct, and authorized the Executive Committee to warn a public hearing for the FY26 draft UPWP and Budget.

Members also highlighted resources and upcoming opportunities: links to Vermont DEC River & Roads trainings; VTrans one‑page guidance on ADA and Title VI compliance for local agencies; Local Motion Complete Streets open office hours; and a note on uncertainty around USDOT discretionary grants under the new administration. Eliana Fox shared that the Safe Streets and Roads for All FY25 Notice of Funding Opportunity was released March 28 and applications are due June 26, 2025.
