CCRPC flags staff-capacity question as FY2026 UPWP project requests outstrip capacity

Marshall Distel, CCRPC senior transportation planner, briefed the Transportation Advisory Committee on the FY2026 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) on March 5, 2025. He said the CCRPC is projected to have enough funding to cover requests but staff capacity and the availability of interns are under review to determine how many projects the commission can manage in FY2026.
Distel said there were numerous inventory and data requests, and that staff will present a more detailed draft project list and staffing assessment at the next TAC meeting, with the final recommended project list scheduled for TAC approval in May. Committee members are encouraged to consult the UPWP webpage for the draft project list and background materials.
Phillip Peterson noted a related local data-collection problem: Burlington has had automatic traffic recorders stolen and is switching to radar for traffic counts, an operational detail that could affect regional traffic-data plans.
No formal decision about prioritization was taken at the meeting; staff will return with a recommended project list once capacity questions are resolved.
