Commissioners approve sheriff radios, fleet software, clerk warranty and health department contract

Bartholomew County Commissioners on March 2 approved several departmental equipment purchases and service agreements.
Sergeant Chad Swank presented a proposal to purchase five Kenwood Viking VM-5930 mobile radios ($16,189) and fourteen Kenwood Viking VP-5430 portable radios ($31,102.40) from Electronic Communication Systems under State QPA pricing, for a total of $47,291.40 to be paid from Sheriff's Department funds. The commission approved the proposal unanimously.
Sergeant Andrew Whipker proposed a subscription to Whip Around fleet management software to help track vehicle maintenance and identify replacement costs. The proposed annual cost is $3,378; funding will come from the county IT budget. Commissioners approved the subscription unanimously.
Clerk Shari Lentz requested a one-year extended labor warranty from Bradford Systems Corporation covering seven Spacesaver mobile file systems (four in the front office, three in the basement) for $1,400, to be paid from the Clerk's budget; the commission approved the agreement.
Director Link Fulp presented a Service Provider Agreement to hire Mildred Elkins as a contract employee for the Health Department's Environmental Division at $29.00 per hour with no benefits; hours must be approved in advance by the director. The agreement term runs through Dec. 31, 2026 and will be paid from Environmental Health funds. Commissioners approved the agreement unanimously.
Commissioners also approved the Clerk's monthly report for January 2026. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned; the next regular meeting was scheduled for March 9, 2026.
