Resident asks planning commission to hold special meeting after Valley Link route would bisect private property

At the April 27 meeting, resident Ari Reinhart told the Buckingham County Planning Commission that the Valley Link project route runs directly through their property at 3988 Saint Andrews Road and asked the commission to hold a special meeting to gather public input and explore ways the county can help affected constituents.
Reinhart said the route "cuts family land in half," dividing two family homes and disrupting the daily path used by their children. They said other counties have scheduled special hearings and taken steps to position constituents for negotiation; Reinhart urged Buckingham to take a leadership role to seek creative solutions and, at minimum, to put affected families in a stronger negotiating position if a transmission line or corridor is approved.
The chair closed public comment and proceeded with the agenda items. A board-of-supervisors member in the audience later offered to speak with Reinhart after the meeting to explain what the Board of Supervisors has done to date and to provide clarity on the project and recent special meetings.
The commission did not schedule a special planning commission hearing during this meeting; the resident was advised a board liaison would follow up after the meeting.
