Bartholomew County Commissioners on March 2 gave first reading to Ordinance No. 2026-03, a request from property owners John and Angela Sohn and Billy Page Jr. to vacate a portion of the Old River Road right-of-way north of 25 E and north of 550 N, while leaving a 50-foot portion at the end of 25 E suitable for a turnaround.
Planning Director Jeff Bergman presented the proposal, noting that the applicants are the only adjacent property owners affected. The proposed vacation was reviewed by the County Planning and Highway Departments and by local utility providers and other members of the County's Subdivision Review Committee; no objections were reported. Commissioner Tony London opened the floor for public comment; none were offered. Commissioner Carl H. Lienhoop moved to approve the first reading as presented; Commissioner Larry S. Kleinhenz seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Because this was the first reading, the ordinance will return for further consideration under the county's normal ordinance-adoption process; a date for the second reading was not specified during the meeting.
