Bartholomew County approves $651,855.60 VOCA grant application to fund victim services

Victim and Witness Coordinator Shannon Carder presented a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant application on behalf of the Prosecutor's Office at the March 9 Bartholomew County Commissioners meeting.
Carder said the application requests $651,855.60 for the grant period Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2028, and that the required county match is $130,345.07 to be paid from the Prosecutor's County General funds. She told commissioners the VOCA funding comes through the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute from federal sources including the Office for Victims of Crime and the Office of Justice Programs.
Commissioner Carl H. Lienhoop moved to approve the grant application; Commissioner Larry S. Kleinhenz seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The approval authorizes the Prosecutor's Office to submit the reimbursable grant application and to provide the stated local match from county general funds; the minutes do not record further conditions or additional appropriations.
