Posey County commissioners approve contracts, surplus vehicles and EMS billing renewal

At their April 7 meeting, the Posey County Commissioners approved multiple contracts, surplus actions and departmental updates across county operations.
Public-safety and facilities contracts included approval of a Deig Brothers bid of $114,500 for a 911 dispatch generator and a three-year service agreement with Trane to maintain HVAC, boilers and chillers at the Courthouse and Coliseum (year-one cost $15,218.00). The board also approved a Marathon Pipeline encroachment agreement related to the Western Bypass and an updated agreement with Volt Strategies that refocuses work without changing cost or terms.
The board approved surplus of two ambulances presented by EMS Director Paul Micheletti: a 2011 ambulance (VIN 1FDXE4FS4BDA02082) with over 200,000 miles and a 2022 McCoy Miller box (VIN 1FDXE4FN7NDC40183). Commissioners also approved a request from Auditor Maegen Greenwell to surplus a 2023 Dodge Durango (VIN 1C4RDJFGXPC577987) after the prosecutor purchased a 2026 Chevy Silverado using Infraction Deferral and Pre-Trial Diversion funds.
Paul Micheletti said last year Malcon’s billing assistance helped recover $71,000 in Medicaid fees; the board renewed a Malcon contract for 2026–2028 by unanimous vote.
Other approved items included a 2026 contract renewal with AOS (county IT vendor), and a $2,077.83 contract to install cameras and locks on Annex doors. Sheriff Tom Latham provided inmate-housing counts and Vanderburgh County housing revenue of $15,320.00. Micheletti reported February EMS activity as 186 requests, 206 transports and $107,105.50 in revenue.
All contracts and surplus motions recorded in the meeting minutes were approved by unanimous votes (3-0) as listed in the minutes. Several items noted follow-up tasks: staff will incorporate approved ordinance language and contracts into county records and the EMA director will seek grant funding for backup power at tower sites.
