The Waxahachie Planning & Zoning Commission on May 27 recommended approval of ZDC14-2025, a specific-use permit for a unified lot sign at the Plaza at Bessie Coleman, a retail development anchored by Sprouts located south of 1650 North U.S. Highway 77.
Staff planner Zach told commissioners the sign would stand about 28 feet tall, measure roughly 300 square feet and include 10 static message panels for retail tenants, and would feature a stone-veneer base and color palette matching the plaza façade. "The sign is 28 feet in height and approximately 300 square feet in size," Zach said, adding the proposal is comparable to an existing sign at the Waxahachie Marketplace and that staff received no letters of support or opposition. The commission voted to recommend approval subject to the conditions listed in the staff report; Commissioner (speaker 6) made the motion and another commissioner seconded it.
The approval is a recommendation to city council; staff will carry forward the conditions and any final permit requirements to the council packet.
