Gemini Farms owner asks city to follow up after protracted eviction dispute and police drone response

At the citizens' forum during the Jan. 27, 2026 Cedar Hill City Council meeting, Colette Sosselman, owner and operator of Gemini Farms (1701 South Duncanville Road), described a protracted eviction and policing matter at her property and asked the council for follow-up.

Sosselman said she purchased the property 15 years ago, paid the mortgage ahead of schedule, and operates horse training and youth programs there. She said a man she described as a squatter has lived on the property and that she asked police to trespass him in October. Sosselman said two eviction filings were dismissed for clerical errors; she named Judge Sasha Moreno in reference to a dismissal for paperwork issues and described another dismissal for failing to check a required petition box despite her having attachments and court-stamped documents.

Sosselman told the council the squatter has harassed a young trainer on the property and threatened animals; she said the trainer has video evidence and that the conduct has harmed business revenue. She also said that on a recent Thursday detectives and multiple squad cars responded and that police asked her to clear the property while a drone flew over and frightened horses; she said officers ultimately left without taking the squatter into custody. "I was asked to clear the property. I said, I'm not leaving. I stayed," Sosselman said.

The presiding officer stopped the speaker when her time expired and told her staff would follow up. The council did not deliberate on the matter during the meeting because the citizens' forum is not an item for deliberation on the agenda, but the presiding officer said the city would have someone follow up with Sosselman.
