The Cedar Hill City Council took several formal actions on Feb. 10; each motion passed unanimously.
• CUP7582025 (conditional use permit for on-premise alcohol at a restaurant within the LR district and Uptown overlay): Councilmember Hayden moved approval following a public hearing in which Jacob Liggett (general manager of the nearby business) identified himself for the record; no public speakers opposed the permit.
• Ordinance No. 2,026-870 (Heart of the Hill Downtown Action Plan): Councilmember Hayden moved adoption; the ordinance was read into the record by the city secretary and adopted to advance the downtown plan with actionable steps, including possible Complete Streets amendments and future CIP considerations.
• Order general election (May 2, 2026): Councilman McCurdy moved to order a general election to elect council members for Places 2 and 6; motion passed.
• Consent agenda (items a–d): Minutes approvals, quarterly investment report for quarter ending Dec. 2025, resolution R26-780 authorizing a grant application to the Texas governor’s office for a first-responder mental health program, and resolution R26-781 supporting a body-worn camera grant for 81 personnel — approved by consent.
• Resolution R26-779 (Legacy Dog Park): Council approved naming the city’s new dog park Legacy Dog Park in honor of Pastor Jim Hennessy; Pastor Hennessy spoke briefly and said he was honored but uncomfortable with his name on the resolution.
The meeting record shows all motions passed with unanimous consent. Many items will return to council as staff advances implementation (developer outreach, grant submissions, CIP proposals and any required development agreements).
