Cedar Hill swears in Mike Harrison as fire chief

Michael Harrison took the oath of office before the Cedar Hill City Council on Feb. 10 and was formally installed as the city’s fire chief.
City Manager (introduced the occasion) noted Harrison’s more than 28 years of service in public safety and his progression through every rank — firefighter, driver-engineer, captain, battalion chief and assistant chief — describing his experience as a “ground-up” operational perspective that will serve the department well.
Harrison, after repeating the oath, thanked the mayor, council and city management for the trust placed in him and said he does not take the responsibility lightly. He acknowledged family in the audience and credited a foundation in public service that began as a volunteer firefighter with the Keene Fire Department.
“I’m committed to leading with honesty, integrity, and commitment,” Harrison said, thanking family and the firefighters and staff he will lead.
The council welcomed Harrison with applause and brief remarks thanking him for his service and wishing him success in his new role.
