The motion, made by Board Member David Yarber and seconded by Board Vice President Steve Stayton, directs Fuller to consult with GMC and any other necessary parties, gather information, complete drawings, assess property values and make any necessary payments to evaluate the potential move. The authorization is strictly for evaluating the relocation, not for approving construction or a final transfer of services.
Board President Jarrod Johnson and other members voted unanimously to approve the item after it was added to the agenda by an earlier amendment. Superintendent Fuller presented the recommendation to the board; no cost estimates or timelines were included in the motion.
The next steps identified by the board are information-gathering and assessment work through contracted consultants; the board did not take a construction, purchase, or relocation vote at this meeting.
