Isanti council approves local permits and sale of fire hall; cannabis microbusiness registration clears with one abstention

AEY LLC cannabis micro business registration: Staff reported AEY LLC submitted a cannabis micro business registration and preapproval from the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) to operate at 703 E. Jewel Blvd. NE. Applicant Kyle Kron explained the kiosk address in the application pertains to a separate hemp operation and said he will change the business address when the location opens. Council voted to approve the registration; one member stated they would abstain from voting due to policy objections to state-level implementation and not because of the business itself.
Sale of the Isanti Fire Hall: Council reviewed a 2021 lease-to-purchase agreement with the Isanti Area Joint Operating Fire District; staff confirmed an appraisal was completed and that the district made the final payment required by the agreement. Council voted to transfer title to the fire district in accordance with the lease-purchase terms; the council noted easements for the well house and generator use were retained in the agreement.
