The Town of Severance on Feb. 24 approved Resolution 2026-05R, authorizing a site development plan for Platte Valley Veterinary Clinic and allowing the business to relocate and expand. Staff reported the application had been reviewed by the planning commission and recommended with conditions; the commission had recommended approval on Jan. 21 with no comments.
Engineering noted one remaining technical item tied to water-service sizing: initial plans included a 1.5-inch meter that applicants revised to a 1-inch service to reduce cost; staff is verifying documentation before final permit issuance. Owners Andrew and Julie Kidd described an eleven-year history operating locally (mobile unit since 2010; brick-and-mortar clinic for 11 years) and said the new facility will offer expanded wellness services, including physical therapy and behavioral care, and leave an adjacent lot undeveloped for potential future expansion.
Council members thanked the owners for investing locally, praised the design and asked staff to work with applicants on sight lines, driveway alignment and potential on-street parking restrictions to protect visibility. A motion to approve the resolution passed on a roll-call vote with all council members present voting yes.
Outcome: Resolution 2026-05R approved (site development plan) with documented conditions to be cleared before final permits are issued.
