The City Manager told the council at the March 10 Cedar Hill briefing that the city has pursued federal EECBG funding and proposed several administrative items for the upcoming council agenda.
She said the city received a $76,000 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) intended to fund electric vehicle charging infrastructure, including plans for a Level 3 DC fast charger at the Traffine Hickman Library and two Level 2 chargers downtown behind the Chamber of Commerce building. “That grant application was submitted … for $76,000 which is for the electric vehicle charging stations,” the City Manager said.
The briefing also previewed consent items to authorize the mayor to execute a contract with AD123 for automatic external defibrillator maintenance and to approve a change order with Year Out Energy Services (doing business as ESG) for design and renovation work on the former Wiley B. Wiley Library and the fire department headquarters. The City Manager said the same design firm has submitted work related to both the grant and the renovation.
A highlighted item the manager flagged for the regular agenda is acceptance of the annual comprehensive audit and hiring the firm Forbus to review staff expenditures, processes and systems. The manager praised the finance team (Finance Director Chuck Fox; accounting staff Grace Du and Christy Corson) and said the audit was clean, recommending the outside review to ensure stewardship and integrity of public funds.
These items were presented during the briefing session for council information and to appear on the upcoming regular meeting agenda; no final council action on these items was recorded in the briefing transcript. The mayor closed the briefing by calling for adjournment, which the council approved by voice vote with the mayor announcing unanimous consent.
